Interesting educational online videos

It's official.

Alicia has fallen in love with Youtube.

Hence, watching Youtube videos has become one of the most important sources of mealtime entertainment. Rather than frowning upon the whim of the modern day toddler, I choose to make the most out of it.

Alicia loves Monsters Inc.!

She's watched Monsters Inc. countless times but this is the first time I filmed her dancing to the tune of the introduction... I dunno why I took so long to film her... haha. Fortunately she's still so excited to watch the introduction! hehehe...

My little Mozart

Alicia recently loves to play the piano so I'd just open up the piano in the morning so she can play the piano whenever she wants to. She'd climb up onto the piano chair on her own and start playing...

Songs and books for the teaching of letter B

Almost forgot about this segment! Hehe...

Learning the letter A (Part II)

Here's Alicia fiddling with the words and pictures of things starting with the letter A. Although she won't be able to match the words to the pictures anytime soon, I feel that it's still good to expose her to the words. Anyway, I've not made the board on which she's supposed to stick the words and pictures on to form a collage. Haha. Hopefully it'd be ready soon. :)

Another activity we did was to let Alicia do some fingerpainting. I had intended to let each fingerprint form an ant (click here for details), but due to the nature of the paint, the fingerprints weren't defined at all. I guess that's the tradeoff for using non-toxic, washable fingerpaints from Crayola.

Anyway, I've decided to let this sheet of paper be the cover for her letter A lapbook... Most importantly, Alicia had fun, so it really doesn't matter if the activity didn't work out the way I wanted it to.



Songs we sang in conjunction with the teaching of 'ants' and the letter A were:

My musically-talented darling...

Dancing, shaking and tapping to the rhythm... just a few things Alicia is fond of doing since she was young. Musically-inclined she is, or at least we hope. :) I've been teaching her to move, groove and clap to the rhythm all this while and looks like she's picked something up along the way! :)

She was ill when we took these videos... I had just put in the suppository for her just awhile before the videos were taken and her high fever had just subsided (for the moment).

It is stated in the milestone chart from babycenter that only the more advanced toddlers at 17mths will be able to dance to music. Well, it just makes me wonder what is considered 'real' dancing in the toddler's universe!
