Craft activity using cotton balls - baa baa white sheep... :)

*activity conducted on 28 Oct*

I'm always looking out for how to recycle used items and here's a simple craft idea to put the "tong-ed" out-of-shape cotton balls to use!

I found this cute (free) template of a sheep from here.

1. Trace your child's hand and cut out the shapes:

2. Arrange and stick the pieces together to form a sheep

3. Get your tot to apply the glue on the sheep:

baa baa blue sheep? :P

4. Tear the cotton ball into small bits with tot:

5. Stick away!

The completed project!:

This is a wonderful keepsake as it has your child's handprint as part of the craft... remember to write down the date on the back of the sheep! :)

This craft idea can be done annually to collect your child's handprint as she grows up! Have fun! :)

Tonging (Part II)

As mentioned in the previous post, here's the follow-up tonging session after I managed to buy colourful pompoms! Makes tonging so much more interesting as she can tong according to colours!

The first colour she decided to tong out: BROWN

Here's the packet of pompoms ($3) from Golden Dragon, People's Park Centre

Giving mummy her favourite colour: PINK! :)

Tonging (Part I)

*Overdue post - activity conducted on 24 October*

This simple activity of tonging cotton balls hones the tot's fine motor skills, in particular, learning how to control fine finger motion.

I used cotton balls at first as I didn't have anything else that was suitable. The next post will show another tonging activity with different coloured pompoms. :)

Transferring items using tongs

What you need for the activity:
  1. a pair of small tongs
  2. two containers
  3. cotton balls (about 10)
  4. an inquisitive tot :)

The setup:

Tongs from NTUC:

Tot at work:

After she tonged all the balls, she proceeded to pour all back into the first container

Ta-da! :) Multiple balls!
