The Letter D - collage cum matching game

This took me a long time to make! I'm so glad it's finally done...

Posing with the collage

Ok, now to figure out what's on the collage...

Taking a closer look at the pic!

This collage has a special word: 'daddy'! And so her daddy's pic is included in the collage! :P

Btw, I don't go through all the words at one time. I usually let her choose what she's interested in and go through that word so if you have a similar sort of activity with your child, make sure you don't overwhelm her with all the words at one go! :)

Hop over to Simply Mommie's Precious Handmades to check out this learning aid and others too! :)

The Letter D - Counting game

It has been a long long time since I made learning aids for Alicia - the last I think was the letter C collage. :P

I designed this counting game for teaching the letter D quite long ago... I had a few unlaminated pieces earlier on which I finally laminated together with the collage words and pics for the letter D. It's all done... finally! :) Time to move on to the letter D!!! Yeah!

Perhaps it's because it's been a long time Alicia's seen new learning aids made by me so she was suitably impressed. She went 'oh wow!' when she saw this set of learning aids. :)

Fiddling with the learning aids before going to my mum's place for dinner on Thursday

Quack quack!!!

She insisted on fiddling with the duck-egg game for the post-breakfast activity the next day! :)

This learning aid only helps with teaching of numbers 1-4 (hence, it's for really young children just starting to count). It comes with the numbers (velcro-ed) on the duck and a corresponding number of eggs (velcro-ed to the nest). Hence, you can either get the child to identify the number of eggs in the nest by placing the right number on the duck or you can get your child to paste the correct number of eggs in the nest (the little velcro bits in the nest will serve as hints).

This item is currently not found in my blogshop as I have further improvised this learning aid. Check out the revised learning aid at here. :)

The Letter C lapbook

Here's Alicia's Letter C lapbook. It's really plain-looking I know... was rushing it out yesterday, together with some other learning aids...

Added her artwork (crab) to the cover to make it nicer! :)

The upper and lower case made with Alicia's artwork done at Julia Gabriel

The interior of the lapbook:
Left: Caterpillar (with missing pieces!)
Right: collage pictures and words

The Clown I made for Alicia can't fit in here so it's still sitting around the house! :)
You can view step-by-step instructions on how to make the clown here in an article I wrote for myplayschool. :)

Days of the Week learning aid - made by Grandma! :)

Learning aid made with love by my mum for Alicia!

Checking out her new learning aid while still in her pjs... :P

Trying to read!
She pointed at "Saturday" and told me - "purple"!
How clever of her to name the colour of the paper! :)

Hee... I'm gonna pull it off from the door...

This set of learning aids was made by my mum and I laminated it and put it up for Alicia. I say made with lots of love because I saw that she actually used a black marker to 'colour' the individual letters because I think the printing wasn't good and she didn't want to ask for a re-print (she doesn't have a printer at home and must have asked someone to do it for her). Thanks Mum! :) Only a loving mum and an endearing grandma would do that!

It's really in time for Alicia's learning as recently she's been watching Youtube videos and one of the videos she watches on a regular basis is the Days of the Week! Hence I just need to sing the days of the week to the tune and she can quickly identify what I'm singing! :)

Here's the video (link provided in case the embedded one doesn't load properly):

GP anyone? :)

Lest I be accused of destroying my child's childhood and stressing her out etc, you might be interested to know that this photo was taken during one of Alicia's lunchtimes... and I was just doing my job - feeding her, not teaching GP! :)

She has the habit of rummaging through my bookshelf and helping herself to all the books. Somehow that day instead of 'reading' my usual literary texts (she must be well-versed in 17th-19th century lit by now and perhaps can recite Paradise Lost even... hahahaha), she was busying herself with the GP Five-year-series and the Cambridge examiner's reports. :P Next, she went on to the RJ Bull... maybe she met with a question she didn't know how to answer. Haha... ya right.. :P

It was fun, nevertheless. :) And I just have to say that this is the must-have photo for ALL GP teachers! :)
